Robert “Bobby” Edward Roper, Sr., 73, of Sulphur passed away on November 19, 2015 in a local hospital. Bobby retired from Citgo as a machinist; he was also a commercial fisherman and attended First Christian Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening, singing, and playing country gospel music for nursing homes and churches. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Bobby is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy “Nell” Roper of Sulphur; his son, Robert “Robby” Roper and wife Pamela “Pam” of Lake Charles; 5 grandsons, Johnny Roper, Jeremy White, Justin Roper, Joel Roper, and Stephen White; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lee Ellen McCraw and Meleta Hand and husband Daniel “Dan”; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Justin W. Roper and Bernice Roper; and his grandson, Joseph Roper. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 3 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home with Rev. Bert Stigen and Rev. Bobbie Yelliot. Burial will be in Big Woods Cemetery under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 21, 2015 from 3- 9 P.M. at the funeral home continuing on Sunday from 9 A.M. until time of the service.
