Robert James Alleman, 74, of Moss Bluff died on Tuesday January 16, 2018 at his residence.
Robert (Bob) was born August of 1943 in Lake Charles, Louisiana. As a boy growing up in old Maplewood community, he spent many hours roaming the woods south of home. Moving to Lake Charles in the 6th grade, Bob attended Central School, then graduated from Lake Charles High School in 1961.
Bob enrolled at LSU, graduating with a BS in Civil Engineering, and completing US Air Force ROTC. He was assigned to pilot training at Laredo Air Force Base, graduating in 1967. Bob also met and married Virginia while stationed at Laredo.
As a USAF KC135 tanker pilot, Bob and the family were stationed at several bases across the US. While stationed in Southeast Asia in the late 60s, and early 70s, Bob flew many important refueling missions in support of the Viet Nam conflict.
In the late 70s, as a civilian, they moved back to Lake Charles, being employed by Boeing, and then by Conoco Refinery, where he retired in 2009. Before retirement, Bob enjoyed singing with the Local Barbershop Chorus group. After retirement, he became an avid McNeese fan of many sports. He was often on TV, because of the “yellow hair” cap he wore to games. Robert was quick to point out that he ALWAYS remained a fan of LSU. Bob was a member of the LC Yacht Club, the McNeese Cowboy Club, and as a hobby winemaker, the Good Time Brewers, the local home brew club.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, James Joseph Alleman and Georgie Graham Alleman, and his son Robert (Robbie) Alleman.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Pena Alleman; sister Judy Alleman Momenzadeh (Abbas); daughter, Elizabeth Alleman Perry (Joseph); son, Michael Alleman (Sharon), 2 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, and Elie his dog.
