Robert James "Bobby" Barbee

Robert James “Bobby” Barbee, 58, of Lake Charles passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2019 in a local hospital surrounded by his loving family.

Bobby was born on November 22, 1960 in Lake Arthur and presently resided in Lake Charles.  He was known as a paint and body specialist in the lake area for several years before owning and operating his own shop “Broad Street Paint and Body.”  Bobby later became an insurance adjuster with USAA Insurance where he continued his career for the next 28 years where he was currently working. 

He was a proud father and grandfather and cherished his time spent with his family.  Bobby also enjoyed karaoke with his friends who affectionately called him “Bobby Boucher.”  He will be remembered for his friendly and inviting personality that never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Janell Barbee of Lake Charles; two daughters, Karissa Barbee Schexnider (DJ) of Sulphur and Cherie Barbee Fenetz (Chance) of Vinton; two step daughters,  Kelley Fendley of Moss Bluff and Blair Fultz (Terry) of Perry, LA; his mother, Sally Barbee of Vinton; four siblings, Gary Barbee (Nena) of Houston, Wayne Barbee of Vinton, Susan Barbee of Vinton, and Patricia Whatley (Donald) of Vinton; and his eight beloved grandchildren, Madison Fultz, Cole Launsby, Mason and Ian Malone, Khora Schexnider, and Aniston, Easton, and Adrienne Fenetz.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow Barbee and his mother in law, Deoradine Fruge.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  The Rev. Carlos Garcia will officiate.  Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
