Robert Kelly Dean

Robert Kelly Dean, 90, of Lake Charles died at 8:55 PM on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 in the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home.


Mr. Dean was born in Senatobia, MS and lived in Lake Charles for over eighty years. He was a graduate of Lake Charles High School and a member of the Track and Basketball teams, Cheerleading Squad, and Drama Club. Mr. Dean was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving in the South Pacific. He was a Member of the Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post #2130, W. B. Williamson Post #1, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Dean was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of Silver Beaver for his work in the Scouts. He was also a longtime member of St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church.


He is survived by two sons; Mark K. Dean and wife Liz, and Chad D. Dean and wife RaeDean; two daughters; Nita Dean and Gaye L. Coleman and husband Richard; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and one nephew Skipper Dean. He was preceded in death by his wife Margaret Louise Larson Dean.


A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 19, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverends Karl Klaus and Henry Bowdon will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday will be from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM and continue Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service in the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Disabled American Veterans, St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church, or Boy Scouts of America.
