Robert M. Bob Jones

Robert Marzell "Bob" Jones, 78, of Lake Charles entered into rest, Monday, October 3, 2011 from a local hospital.

Mr. Jones was born in Tifton, GA, and raised and educated in both GA AL. He served in the United States Navy for thirty years, having retired as Sr. Chief Hospital Corpsman. During his service he received many awards, including three Vietnam Service Medals and a Navy Commendation Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Louis L Lust Chapter #17. He had lived throughout many cities and states in "Our Great Country", as well as being stationed on the Island of Guam, finally making Lake Charles his home in 2006.

Mr. Jones greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren, and Country-Western Music. He was an avid fan of the early 50's thru 1970's Grand Ole Opry and similar classic country-western music including an overwhelming knowledge of the music, artists, musicians and song writers.

He will be most remembered a private man, devoted to his family.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 56 years, Carole Mathenia Jones of Lake Charles; one son, Dave Jones of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Debi Griffin and husband Kevin of Blue Ridge, GA and Pam Jones and husband Larry Connell of Sylvester, GA; five grandchildren, David and Kari Jones of Niceville, FL, Mary Griffin of Blue Ridge, GA and William Kain and Nick Connell of Sylvester, GA; six brothers and one sister.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Joshua David Jones; his mother, Bessie Jones Howard and one brother.

With respect of Mr. Jones wishes, services will be private.

The Family would like to Thank Dr. Michael Broussard, Oncologist, the 4th Floor Oncology staff of Nurses, CNA's and staff at Lake Memorial Hospital for their support, kindness, and care given to Bob during his many frequent stays on your ward. A special Thanks to Holly in the Chemo-lab for making him feel special and going the extra mile.
