Robert Paul “Butch” Babineaux, Jr. passed away on January 5, 2024, at his home in Lake Charles surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born in Lake Charles on August 23, 1960, the first son of Robert and Rosalie Babineaux. He attended Our Lady Queen of Heaven elementary school and graduated from St. Louis Catholic High School in 1978.

Butch received a Civil Engineering degree from LSU in 1983, where he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He became a registered professional engineer in Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. He is employed by Fenstermaker where he worked as a Business Development Leader. For 30 years, he was employed by the national consulting engineering firm of CDM Smith (formerly Wilbur Smith Associates) in Houston. His passions in life beyond work were cooking, entertaining and spending quality time with his family and many friends. He was so grateful for the lifelong relationships he maintained with his friends from elementary school, high school, and college. He loved to travel. He always created a detailed itinerary for trips that included interesting facts and information links. He was a one-man travel agency, and his slogan was “Babineaux Travel – We Geaux Where You Geaux”.

Butch is survived by his wife of 38 years, Julia Ann Babineaux; two children, Matthew Paul Babineaux (Rebecca Kape-Babineaux) and Anna Elizabeth Babineaux (Ross Toney); and one grandchild, Watson Paul Babineaux. Butch is also survived by his father, Robert Paul Babineaux, Sr.; two sisters, Sheila Newell (John) and Lana Ellis (David); and two brothers Glenn Babineaux (Kelly) and Dennis Babineaux (Cheri).
