Robert Shelby Vincent, 94, of Moss Bluff, LA, died at 9:19 AM on Monday, January 25, 2016 in a local care facility.
Mr. Vincent was born December 31, 1921 in Beauregard Parish, LA and graduated from Ragley High School in 1940. He attended McNeese Junior College and graduated from Louisiana State University in 1949 with his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. While at LSU, he was a member of Pi-Mu-Epsilon, the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the American Institute of Radio Engineers and was still a member of the LSU Golden Tiger Alumni Group. Mr. Vincent served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. In 1950 he began his career at Louisiana Radio Communications, where he quickly became the owner / operator. He was a hard worker and set the standards very high throughout his sixty-five year career. Mr. Vincent was the core and anchor of his company. He gave his son the wisdom and knowledge needed to grow LRC Wireless into what it is today. He was a member of the Professional Engineer and Land Surveying, Profit and Loss, and was a past board member of the local engineering chapter of the Louisiana Engineer Society. Mr. Vincent was very active throughout the community and supported countless community events and church functions. He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church, where he started the audio program and later the video program and was still the main camera operator. He was also a member of the Pentecostal Historical Society. He was a very active man, who always lived life to the fullest, and was helping to build a church in Puerto Rico. Mr. Vincent loved his family and his church dearly and was always a role model for prayer. He will always be remembered as a spiritual, dedicated man of God.
Mr. Vincent is survived by his son, Perry Vincent and wife Lenda of Westlake; daughter, Celia Vincent Broussard and husband Kevin of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Jon Garret Vincent and wife Britney and Stormi Danielle Sonnier and husband Clayton; great-grandchildren, Adalee, Laila and Miller, and close family friends, Verbia Long and Albert Hollingshead. Mr. Vincent also leaves behind his business family of Louisiana Radio.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velton Nell Vincent; and sister, Evelyn Vincent.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at First United Pentecostal Church. Reverend Jeffery Ralston will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the start of the service.
