Robert Stakely Vignaud

Robert Stakely Vignaud, age 60, amazingly gifted musician, beloved husband, incredible father, brother and friend passed away on May 4, 2012 after a valiant battle with gallbladder pancreatitis and complications due to liver disease. He died in Dallas at Robert's Hospital in The Baylor University Medical Center.


Mr. Vignaud was born on May 8, 1951, in New Orleans, LA. He was adopted by Nick and Beulah Vignaud and raised in Lake Charles, LA along with his adoptive sister Davelyn.


He is survived by his wife, Suzanne and sons, Eric and Blake. He was a devoted husband, father, son and friend. Robert and Suzanne would have celebrated 25 years of marriage this year. He graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana with a degree in Psychology. He played music in several bands as well as the Cajun band "Beausoleil." While touring, Robert had the opportunity to visit Austin several times and decided to move to Austin in August of 1981. Robert enjoyed playing music with many musicians, including Haywire, The Shakers, Brian Cutean, The Ken Ragsdale Orchestra, Frenezi, Bonneville County Pine Box and The Nash Hernandez Orchestra.


A celebration of life was held on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the UT Alumni Center in The Connally Ballroom in Austin, TX.
