Robert Steven Manuel

Robert Steven Manuel, 79, of Lake Charles passed away at 5:50 PM on Monday, April 30, 2018 in a local hospital.

Mr. Manuel was born on April 19, 1939 in Jennings, LA and lived all of his life in Lake Charles where he was a graduate of Landry High School. He retired from PPG as a tanker man after 40 years of service. Mr. Manuel attended the Deaf Catholic Church downtown.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing. In his later years he looked forward to the monthly breakfast get togethers with his former co workers and was also a past member of the CFMA along with his wife. Mr. Manuel was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be remembered for his loving and giving spirit.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Jane Manuel of Lake Charles; daughters, Miriam Manuel Clark (James) and Joanie Manuel Turpin (Tom) all of Sulphur; step daughters, Alesia Staha (Larry) of Richmond, TX, Angela Demary (Gilbert) of Big Lake, and Anjeanette Moore (Andrew) of Sulphur; siblings, Ray Manuel (Dee) of Lake Charles, Carol Harrison of Texas, and Larry Manuel of Colorado; brother-in-law, Owen Bourque of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anita and Ortear Manuel; a brother, J.D. Manuel; and his first wife and mother of his children, E. Jeanette Manuel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 4, 2018 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a cursillo rosary to take place at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.
