Robin Dean Driscoll (Robear/Nana Sox), age 61, of Carlyss, LA, slipped away peacefully on June 9, 2016 at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital. She was surrounded by her family and close family friends at the time of her death.
Robin was born on July 9, 1954 in Boston, MA and her family moved to Lake Charles when she was six years old. She is survived by her two sisters: Tracy D. Walton (wife of Garland Walton) of Moss Bluff, LA and Edan E. Driscoll of Lake Cormorant, MS; her nephews: Shau Driscoll, Clay Russell and Dane Burton; her grandnephews: Joey Russell and Jack Driscoll. Robin was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy R. Driscoll and John A. Driscoll, Jr.
Robin graduated in 1972, from LaGrange High, during which she volunteered at St. Pat’s as a “candy striper”. She pursued her love of nursing at McNeese State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1977 and was also a Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant in surgery at Christus St. Patrick’s Hospital. For over 45 years of her life, she has devoted to giving the best care of her patients, their families and others.
Robin loved to travel; her most favorite places were visiting our family the Melkonian Clan on the coast of Maine and our annual family’s reunion, the O’Driscoll Klan in Baltimore, Ireland, held each year during the week of the summer solstice. Her other hobbies included, the carding, dyeing and spinning of sheep’s wool with other materials to weave into shawls, knit into one-of-a-kind socks, sweaters, throw blankets, felted hats, purses and other items too numerous to mention.
The “Celebration of Robin’s Life” will be on her birthday, Saturday July 9, 2016, at 3:00PM, at Johnson Funeral Home at 4321 Lake Street in Lake Charles. Reverend Thomas Bruce will be the Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM until the time of services. Robin’s interment will be at sea at the locations of Nubble Lighthouse, York, Maine and Fastnet Lighthouse off the coast Baltimore, Ireland during the time period around the 2017’s Summer Solstice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “The Children’s Miracle Network” which Robin dedicated her time and passion to children’s health needs.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the St. Pat’s nursing and Hospice staff.
