Roger Clark Williams, 81, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2014. He was comforted in his last hours, surrounded by his loving family, who told stories, laughed, and cried. We are fortunate to have each and every memory to hold in our hearts forever; he will be sorely missed. Roger is a descendent of early Pioneer settlers of Allen Parish. He was born October 2, 1932 in Beaumont, Texas, to William Edwin Williams and Esther Houston Williams. He was reared and educated in Kinder, LA, during his elementary and high school years. He was active in Future Farmers of America and was an Eagle Scout. He was honored to be able to play on the first All South Basketball Team. While in college, he began his career as a successful business man by establishing AAA Building Maintenance (a cleaning company) in 1956 which he sold after 40 years. He was the owner and president of MicroChem (a chemical supply company). Roger served as president of the Better Business Bureau, served as president of Southwest Association of Building Service Contractors, served as president of the Southwest Louisiana Fishing Club. He was a member of the Red Carpet Committee of the Chamber of Commerce. He was a Certified Building Service Executive. While in business, he served on the Board of Business Service Contractors Association International, which encompassed 32 countries. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in occupied Germany. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a charter member of the Habibi Shriners. He was preceded in death by his parents Esther and Edwin Williams, and two brothers, Eddie and Reginald Williams. He leaves behind, to treasure his legacy, his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Phelps Williams; daughters Dr. Margaret Jean Williams of Phoenix, AZ, and Marilyn Louise Williams, LPC; sons, Dr. Roger Mark Williams and wife, Janelle, and Dr. Luke Meade Williams and wife, Alicia; one sister, Nelva Jean Nassar-Jackson and husband, Wesley, all of Lake Charles. His grandchildren include, James Matthew Williams, Katherine Williams Swire and husband, Rev. Bradley Swire, Thomas Mark Williams, Michael Paul Williams, Jonathan Luke Williams, Chelsea Taylor Abshire, Hannah Marie Williams, Abigail Rose Williams, Andrew Michael Hedlesky, Philip Roger Hedlesky, and Emily Louise Hedlesky. One Great Grandchild: Allison Marie Swire. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation for their compassionate care to: Dr. John Noble, Dr. Ben Williams, Dr. Gerald Byrd, Dr. Carl Fastabend, Dr. Baron Newton, Dr. Xavier Mousset, Dr. Ron Kober, Dr. Richard Gilmore, Dr. Jake LeBeau, Dr. Hooper Nichols, and the caring staff of ICU at Christus St. Patrick Hospital. The family will gather to greet friends at 2:00 p.m. and a celebration of Roger's life will begin 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church, 1500 Country Club Road, Lake Charles, LA. Burial will be at the Phelps Family Plot in the Historic American Cemetery in Natchitoches, Louisiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Roger's memory to St. Luke Simpson United Methodist Church or to Troop 1 Boy Scouts of America at St. Luke Simpson.
