Roger D. Seamons, Sr.

July 28, 1944 — September 9, 2018

Roger DeWane Seamons, Sr., 74, died peacefully in a DeQuincy hospital on Sunday, September 9, 2018 with his loving family at his side.

 

Born to the late Donald DeWane Seamons and Thelma Jewel Andrus Seamons, Mr. Seamons was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles and a 1963 graduate of LaGrange Senior High School. He learned his trade through the Local 106 Plumber Apprenticeship Program, working through the local his entire life, and by which he was presented his 50-year watch in December of 2017, which he wore with great pride. Mr. Seamons enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and above all, spending time with his grandchildren and family.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 53 years, Charlene “Pat” Seamons; two sons, Roger DeWane Seamons, Jr. and wife Rhonda of Grand Lake and Shanin Clay Seamons and wife Melissa of Moss Bluff; one daughter, Tracy Lynn Abshire and husband Mark of Lake Charles; nine grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Tyler, Sydney, Morgan, Lindsay, and Dylan Seamons, Seth Abshire and wife Kaitlyn, and Joey Rice and wife Brooke; four great grandchildren, Kylah, Maddox, Brayson, and Alayah Rice and one to arrive in November, Paxton Abshire; and two sisters, Grace Ellen Robideaux and husband Ronald of Grand Lake and Cynthia Ann Primeaux and husband Patrick of Grand Lake. He also leaves behind his best friend, Tony.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. Rabbi Barry Weinstein will officiate. Interment will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until service time.

 

The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given to their devoted husband and father to the staff of Heart of Hospice, especially Amanda, Christina, Anita, and Jake, Bridgeway Psychiatric Center, and Dr. Brown. They would also like to thank Christus St. Patrick Hospital Unit 54, the Care Center of DeQuincy, especially Katrina and Jennifer, as well as the DeQuincy Memorial Hospital, especially Mellette, Ellen, Charlene, Chad, Sharon, and Dr. Joudeh.
