Roger Warren Guidry, 68, of Winona, TX passed away Sunday, May 05, 2013 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Guidry was born in Zwolle, LA, raised in Hackberry, lived most of his life in Lake Charles and the past twenty-two years in Texas. He was a graduate of Hackberry High School and served the United States Air Force. Mr. Guidry worked as a mechanic, his younger years in the Oil Field and nearly forty years in Natural Gas Compression. He was much respected in his industry, often considered one of the most technically proficient in regard to natural gas engines. He was a man of intelligence, wide-ranging and overwhelming experience. His passion was working on engines of any kind and building race car engines. As a firearms enthusiast, he enjoyed collecting and restoring older and rare guns.
He leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Robert Warren Guidry and wife Belynnda of Winona, TX and Marc Allan Guidry and wife Kim of Lumberton, TX; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Daniel Veronie, Jennifer Nicole Veronie, Kaylon Talley, Jacob Talley Chesney Lynn Guidry, Matthew Mills and Megan Gregory; two brothers, Mike Guidry of Carlyss, LA and Ronnie Guidry and wife Betty of Schriever, LA and one sister, Rita Pourteau of Lake Charles.
He was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Mary Lynn Guidry and daughter, Lisa Gayle Guidry Veronie.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Friday, May 10, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Interment will follow in Sallier Cemetery. Visitation Thursday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue Friday from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
