Roland Evans Spell

July 6, 1921 — December 28, 2013

Roland Evans Spell, 92, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Spell was born in Indian Bayou, LA and has lived nearly sixty years in Lake Charles. He worked over forty years as an Auto Mechanic, primarily for Cagle Chevrolet. Mr. Spell received thirty-eight training certificates over the years and at one time was the top transmission mechanic in the area. He also enjoyed repairing lawn mowers. Mr. Spell took great pride in devoting his love and hard work to his family. He will be most remembered as a man of wisdom and generosity. He leaves to honor his memory, two sons, Ronnie Spell and Phillip Spell, of Lake Charles; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; one sister, Doris Simon (Joseph) of Lake Charles and one sister-in-law, Deryl Rodgers (Jim) of Baytown, TX. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Evelyn Morgan Spell; two sons, Aubrey Spell and Stephen Spell; daughter, Janice Thomas; his parents and eight siblings. Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 02, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Thursday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
