Roland John Romero

Roland John Romero, 76, of Lake Charles died on Sunday, March 10, 2013 in a local hospital.


Mr. Roland was born on April 7, 1936 in Lafayette Parish and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. Mr. Romero was a salesman for Coburn Supply and also for Solar Supply. He then owned and operated General Appliance and Plumbing. His passion in life was coaching baseball. He coached for over 20 years for St. Henry's, Mid City, and the American Legion. Mr. Romero was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church.


He was an extremely loving and giving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Romero was a blessing to all who crossed his path and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be missed and always held dear to his loved ones hearts and thoughts.


Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Bonnie Burnett Romero of Lake Charles; a daughter, Beth Romero Leger and husband Kevin of Georgia; two sons, Scott Douglas Romero and wife Kem and Andy Romero and wife Sandra all of Lake Charles; a sister, Lena Bertrand and husband L.J. of Lake Charles; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Nita Romero and a sister, Evelyn McCain.


A rosary followed by a memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Jack Reynolds will officiate. Per Mr. Romero's wishes, his body was cremated. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until the start of the rosary and services.
