Ronald "Casey" Richard

March 3, 1933 — February 10, 2019

Ronald “Casey” Richard, a realtor and retired operator from Cities Services, a life-long resident of Lake Charles, crossed over Jordan at 6:55 a.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019.

Casey is preceded in death by his mother and father, along with 5 siblings, and two great grandchildren.  He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma Cole Richard; his children, Layne Richard, Don Richard (Pam Richard),  Gwen Richard, Kay Womack (Paul Womack), and Ron Richard; his mother-in-law, Vernice Cole; his brother, Ray Richard, and three sisters, Ann Clift (Jack), Jackie Smith, and Judy Leger; his 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws and co-opted family.

Casey was born in Eunice on March 3, 1933, along with his twin brother, Donald “Pistol” Richard to Curtis and Clemmie Richard.  The family moved to Lake Charles when he was 12 and he graduated from Marion High School in 1952.  He lettered in all sports and became known as “Casey at the bat” and the nickname stuck.  He attended several semesters of college at McNeese and obtained his realtor’s license at the young age of 20 years old.  He was employed at Cities Services for 40 years before retiring.  He conducted the profession he truly loved, his real estate business, his entire adult life until his very last days.  On March 17, 1956, he married the love of his life, the beautiful Thelma Lorraine Cole, and together they raised their five children here in Lake Charles.  He was a lifelong member of the First United Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles and his walk with the Lord was his most cherished endeavor.

He was a devoted father, friend and Christian.  He loved the real estate business but he loved being a Paw Paw most of all.  Casey never met a stranger and had a kind word and broad smile for everyone he met, especially, his loving grandchildren.  He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and associates, as well as all who met him.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 12, 2019, at 5-9 pm at the First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles, located at 320 Bunker Road.  Visitation will resume Wednesday at 11 with the funeral commencing at 1 pm, Wednesday under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Pastor Jeffery Ralston will officiate. Burial will follow in Creel Memorial Gardens in Bel, LA.

In lieu of flowers, Casey requested that donations be made to the Kidz Zone program at First Pentecostal Church, in memory of Casey Richard.

For all who follow him later in death, know that Casey awaits us at the Eastern Gate.
