Ronald Gene Vincent was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on August 31, 1932. He worked as a butcher since he was 16 through his retirement in 2009. He began his career at the historic Central Food Market on Railroad Avenue in Lake Charles, the first business hub and hotspot for the city's population explosion. In his early career, he served as a butcher at Weingarten's, then was promoted to meat market manager and served in that position at Weingarten's, Safeway, Market Basket and Sam's, until he retired in 2009. He also had a brief stint at Oak Villa in Baton Rouge, Chardelle's in Lake Charles, and Safeway in the Covington/Mandeville area and at Sowella Tech machine shop. A relative in the lineage of Louisiana's fifth governor Alexandre Mouton and his son Confederate General Alfred Mouton, Mr. Vincent was an avid coin collector, and loved to travel, oil paint, make a vegetable garden, crab and fish, play cards and take photographs with his automatic digital camera. Those left to cherish his memory are his four children and their spouses: Dr. Donna Vincent Roa and Victor B. Roa of Rockville, MD; Karen Perron and Dwayne Perron of Baton Rouge, LA; Dr. Julie Matte and Barry Matte of Covington, LA; and Gene Vincent and Denise Vincent of Sulphur, LA; his two brothers: Robert Vincent of Houma, LA and Gary Vincent of Jacksonville, FL; his grandchildren, Alexander and Gretchen Roa, Kristin and Nick Perron, Miranda Matte Tanner, Maribeth and Olivia Matte; James, Michael, and Tobi Vincent; and three great grandchildren: Wyatt Tanner and Maverick Tanner, and Lukas Matte. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Broussard Vincent; his parents, Dorothy Porter Vincent and Louis Theodore Vincent, Sr., and his brothers Louis T. Vincent, Jr., and Raymond Vincent of Jennings, LA. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 8:30 AM until 11:00 AM at Johnson Funeral Home on 4321 Lake Street. A rosary will be recited at 10:30 AM, and the funeral mass will be held at 11:30 AM at Christ the King Catholic Church, 7680 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles, LA. Reverend Father Tony Fontenot will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 6325 Common St., Lake Charles, LA.
