Ronald Lee "Ronnie" Ramsey

Ronald "Ronnie" Lee Ramsey, 78, of Ragley died at 10:30 AM on Sunday, June 15, 2014 in a Lafayette hospital. Mr. Ramsey was born on October 21, 1935 in Bixby, OK, and lived in Lake Charles for forty-two years before moving to Ragley nine years ago. He was a graduate of Westlake High School. Mr. Ramsey served in the U.S. Army for three years where he was stationed in the Philippines. Following his honorable discharge, he began a thirty year career at Sears, retiring as warehouse manager. Once retiring, he and his wife together began working in the certified folder display business for the past fourteen years. Mr. Ramsey was a long time member of Glad Tidings Church. He enjoyed doing activities outdoors such as barbecuing, gardening, fishing, and tractor riding as well as bowling. Mr. Ramsey will be remembered for his distinct whistling that could almost always be heard. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Almira Ramsey of Ragley; a daughter, Mary Keller and husband Hugh of Moss Bluff; a son, Ronnie Ramsey, Jr. and wife Charlotte of Ragley; a brother, Harold Ramsey and wife Frances of Deridder; a sister, Glenda Joyce Jenkins and husband Lowell of Longville; a sister-in-law, Loretta Ramsey of Glen Rose, TX; six grandchildren, Marie Keller Lionberger, Joshua and Rebekah Keller, Annette Ramsey Weaver, and Jessica and Emily Ramsey; and two great grandchildren, Elijah and Haddie Keller. He is preceded in death by his parents, Viola and Gus Ramsey; two brothers, Harvey and Red Ramsey; and a grandson, Jacob Keller. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary Evers will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service. The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to an extended family member, Dr. Kenneth Habetz for all of his care, compassion, and assistance during this trying time.
