Ronald Ron Chris Stephens

October 18, 1950 — August 31, 2010

Ronald Chris Stephens was born Oct. 18, 1950, in Lake Charles and passed away August 31, 2010, at Christus St. Patrick Hospital. He lived in Westlake for the past 24 years. He was 59.

He married the love of his life, Wanda Harvey, on Jan. 9, 1981, and they shared a lifelong joy for playing golf. Ron's other great passions included LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints football, and he was an avid fisherman. He considered his barbecuing and crawfish boiling a matter of pride. He was a gracious host and servant to all who entered his home, and it was a rare occasion when someone left his home hungry.

Ron was a grocery store manager for most of his life. He finished his career with Market Basket, running the Moss Bluff store for the past few years. He took great pride in being considered an important part of the Market Basket team, for whom he had tremendous respect and love.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Harris Stephens, sister Jackie LeDoux, grandparents Rose and Willie Berzas and Evelina and Alfred Stephens, daughter Sheila Denise Breaux, granddaughters Casey Marie Magness and Autumn Elaine Basham, and grandson Alex Lamar Basham and numerous others.

Ron is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mabel and Harold Earl Featherston of Lake Charles; sisters and brothers-in-law Karen Williams of Baton Rouge, Lisa and Scott Newman of Baytown, Texas, and Angie and Keith Brown of Ragley; daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Robbie Magness of Westlake; son-in-law Lynn Breaux of Baytown, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Terry and Christina Basham of Baytown; daughter Deshelle Stephens Tarver and significant other Byron Canter of Westlake; daughter Alexis Stephens and fiance' Sean Coleman of Westlake; long-time sons-in-law Nick Tarver and Ricky LeJeune; many friends and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

One of the great joys of Ron's life was his grandchildren: Christopher and Jamie Fruge; Jason, Tasha, Shawna, Devon and Jacob Breaux; Timothy, Derian and Braden Magness; Sierra, Gabriel, and Abigail Basham; Jacie Tarver; Shelbee LeJeune and Berlynn Coleman, and Mia and Demi Canter.
