Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Gaspard, Jr., 37, of Cameron, died Sunday May 31, 2015 at South Cameron Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Ronnie was a native and lifelong resident of Cameron Parish. A graduate of Johnson Bayou High School, Ronnie received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from McNeese State University. He was a commercial fisherman and enjoyed studying astronomy. Ronnie was a member of the National Rifleman's Association, Our Lady Star of the Sea, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, and a member of the VHL Family Alliance. Preceding Ronnie in death are his maternal grandfather, Mac Savoie; paternal grandparents, Jules "Turtleman" and Dorothy Miller; uncles, Jake Miller and C.J. Gaspard. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his parents, Ronald Wayne and Ina Jane Savoie Gaspard, Cameron; maternal grandmother, Loula Faye Vincent Savoie, Cameron; his wife, Vicky Racca and her husband Donny as well as numerous cousins and extended family and friends. Visitation will be at First Baptist Church of Cameron from 11:00 AM today, Tuesday June 2, 2015 and will continue on Wednesday June 3 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Hugonin and Rev. Al Gibson officiating. Also, a Mass of Christian Burial will be observed on Wednesday June 3 at Our Lady Star of the Sea with Father Herbert May serving as celebrant. Burial will follow the mass at Cameron First Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
