Ronnie James Breaux, 67, of Bell City passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016, in his residence.
Mr. Breaux was born on October 8, 1948, in Jennings and was raised in Sweetlake. He lived in Lake Charles until moving back to Sweetlake upon retirement. He was a 1966 graduate of Bell City High School, after graduation he served in the United States Navy, then he attended McNeese State. Mr. Breaux retired from Bell South, where he worked for over thirty-five years. He was a member and officer of the CWA Local 3407 Union for many years, serving as President for six years. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sweetlake, where he served as an usher.
Mr. Breaux enjoyed spending time with friends and could often be found cooking in his outdoor kitchen. He was a great cook and enjoyed smoking sausage in his smokehouse. He loved listening and dancing to French music. Mr. Breaux was proud of and often bragged on his two grandchildren, whom he adored.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Tessie Breaux Guillory and grandchildren, Austin and Cameron Guillory, all of Lake Charles. He also leaves behind his mother, Lillian Gatte Breaux; two brothers, Wilson J. Breaux and wife Patsy, and Kevin Breaux and wife Arlene; three sisters, Juanita Nunez and husband Jerry, Belva Hamilton and husband John, and Jennifer Hamilton and husband Danny. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elydia “Sue” Breaux; his daughter, Ashley Breaux; his father, Lyon Breaux; his sister, Wanda Breaux Landry; and an infant brother.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sweetlake. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Sweetlake-Grand Lake Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Johnson’s Funeral Home, with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday from 8:00 AM until leaving for the church at 9:30 AM.
