Rosa Mae Polito

November 21, 1926 — August 9, 2013

Jesus picked a Rose on Friday, August 9, 2013, when He called his faithful servant, Rosa Mae Polito, to her eternal home.

Rosa was born in Durald, LA to Adius and Florentine Manuel Guillory. She was a very loving woman of faith who devoted much of her time to the service of God. She was a parishioner of St. Henry's Catholic Church for 60 years, and was instrumental in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal Prayer group in the early 1970's. She was a member of the Companions of Honor and was awarded the Devoted Service Medal in 1981 by the Bishop of the Lake Charles Diocese. For the past four years, she was a parishioner of St. Martin de Pores Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters at this parish. In all, she served faithfully for over 64 years with the Altar Society of her church.

Preceding Rosa in death are her parents, beloved husband, Anthony Polito; grandson, Patrick Foy; two brothers and two sisters. Those left to honor and cherish her memories are one son, James Polito and wife, Janet, Moss Bluff; two daughters, Patricia Foy and husband Glen, Lake Charles, and Judy Christman and husband Rob; Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Brandon Foy,. Stacy Guidry, Melissa Christman and Ryan Christman; two great grandchildren, Gabriel Perez and Nikolas Guidry; five step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be on Monday August 12, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Home from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Praise and Worship at 6:00 PM and Rosary to be recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at St. Martin de Pores Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday August 13, 2013 at St. Martin de Pores Catholic Church with Father Keith Pellerin, celebrant. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to her caregivers, Christus St. Patrick Hospital, 5th floor staff, Christus St. Patrick Hospice and Resthaven Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Hall 4 and 5 for their loving and compassionate care given to our beloved mother.
