Rosalie Marie Royer, 84, of Lake Charles passed Monday, August 06, 2012 from the comfort of her daughter's home.
Mrs. Royer was born and raised in Lake Charles, lived twenty-two years in Jennings and forty years in Sulphur. She enjoyed embroidering, playing bingo and flower gardening. She and her husband Willis were very involved with V.F.W. Post 8107, both having served as Officers for multiple terms. Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Royer was involved with Big Brothers/Big Sisters, where she was a Foster Grandparent at R.W. Vincent Elementary School for several years. Her greatest joy was in knowing that she had encouraged children to read and helping them to remember the words.
She leaves to cherish her memory, five daughters, Betty Reed and husband Kenneth of Lake Charles, Cheryl Breaux and friend Tarnley Trahan of Sulphur, Barbara Young of Lake Charles, Vickie Manuel and husband Ricky of Lake Charles and Jacqie Royer and friend Larry Domingue of Sulphur; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Wilford Royer of Jennings and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Morris Royer, second husband, Willis Royer; her parenets, Lee Boday and Oseeana Dartez Myers; four brothers, Henry, Clifford, Arthur and Johnny; a great-grandchild, Tristan Young and a son-in-law, Darrell Young.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings. Reverend _______ will officiate. Inurnment will follow in Green Wood Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM in the funeral home in Jennings.
Mrs. Royer loved flowers, however her family believes she would prefer memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, One Lakeshore Drive, Suite 1585, Lake Charles, LA 70629, Alzheimer's Association, 3717 Government Street, Suite 7, Alexandria, LA 71302 or a charity of choice.
