A wonderful mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, Rose Belle Marcantel Blanchard Harmon will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Rose died peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2014 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 81. Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Westlake Memorial Park Cemetery. Rose was born August 19, 1932 in Eunice, LA, and worked in a rice mill, in her younger years. She worked as a registered nurse at St. Pat's Hospital and Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1991. After retirement, she worked as a private sitter. She was a very kind and loving woman and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and friends brought a great deal of joy to her life as well as being a wonderful cook, gardener, and she enjoyed crafting. She is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Henry Harmon. She will be sadly missed but never forget by her children, Susan Perron Achten and husband Steven of Mamou, LA, Cassie Savoy of Lafayette, LA, Dot Blanchard Vogal and husband Gary of Williamsport, PA, Randy Blanchard and wife Debbie of Lake Charles, Tamara "Tammy" Blanchard Landry and husband Donald of Lake Charles, and Margaret Blanchard Luna of Orange, TX; step-daughter, Sally Stanley of Kingston, TN; sister, Marjorie Ardoin of Eunice, LA; hairdresser and good friend, Jennifer Stailey; a host of good friends from Grand Lake and the Calcasieu Counsel on Aging. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Latasha and Racheal Perron, Sonya and Stewart Guillory, Trever Guidry, Tessa Keel, Keysha Pruitt, Randy "Boo" Blanchard, Lindsey Blanchard, Kayla Blanchard, Hunter Blanchard, Kimberly LeJeune, Candace Devillier, Austin Woods, E.J. Christian, Lana Christian, and Jake Christian; step-grandchild, Angie Wallace; nine great-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She now rest in Heaven with her first husband and the father of her children, Hilton Blanchard; son-in-law, Joe Luna; and siblings, Alice Marcantel Deshotel, Allie Marcantel Guillory, and Harry Marcantel. Her visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 9:30 AM until the start of the service with a rosary at 1:00 PM. The family would like to express a special word of thanks the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Oncology, Rehab and 6th Tower staff and nurses and also a special thanks to Dr. Ron Lewis.
