Rose Katheryn Terranova Derouen

Rose Katheryn Terranova DeRouen of Lake Charles passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Mrs. DeRouen was born August 15, 1929 in Lake Charles, LA to Charles A. Terranova and Catherine DiCarlo Terranova. She graduated high school valedictorian on May 28, 1946 from St. Charles Academy in Lake Charles, LA. Rose attended John McNeese Junior College graduating on May 25, 1948 and graduated with a Bachelors of Science from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA on June 3, 1950. After earning a diploma as a Graduate Medical Technologist from St. Mary's School of Medical Technology in Port Arthur, TX on June 3, 1951, she went on to work as a Med Tech under the direction of Dr. Andrew Samuel Andy Ranier at St. Patrick's Hospital in Lake Charles, LA. Rose married her life-long partner, Percy R. DeRouen, on January 24, 1954 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Lake Charles. Together, they have been active members of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Parish and participated in many church and school endeavors over the years. Along with her mother-in-law, Rose was a member of the Ladies Altar Society of OLQH. She also assisted many years at the Our Lady Queen of Heaven School/Church Bazaar. Rose is most known for her unconditional love and care-taking of her family. She always put herself second to any and all of her family members, responding with concern and dedication. She was admired and dearly loved by everyone who knew her. She will be sorely missed.

She is proceeded in death by her parents; in-laws; Lula and Allen DeRouen, sister, Carmen T. Miller, and nephew; Kevin Mitch Miller.

Rose is survived by her husband; two daughters; Katheryn (Kathy) Ackel, Deborah (Debbie) Bohny and husband, Rich, one son; Steven (Steve) and wife, Donna, two grand-daughters; Claire DeRouen and Elizabeth Bohny, two grand-sons; Allen DeRouen and Richie Bohny, and one step-grand-daughter; Amber Ackel Declouet

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Father Ruben Buller will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 pm until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 7:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00AM until 9:45 AM in the funeral home.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are grandsons; Allen DeRouen and Richie Bohny, and nephews; William Mark Miller, Charles Mike Miller, Marty DeRouen and Robert LaCroix.

The family would like to thank caregivers from Villa Maria Retirement Center and Home Instead Senior Care, Dr. Ronald Lewis, Jr. and Dr. Van Snider, who took such good care of her in her final years of life.
