Rose Lee Stevens

Westlake Rose Lee Thomas Stevens, 79, departed this life on Friday, September 6, 2013. A native of Opelousas, Louisiana she was a resident of the Mossville Westlake Community for 57 years. She was a member of the Interdenominational Ministers Wives Fellowship for over forty years, where she served on the worship and social committee. She was a charter member of the New Covenant Faith Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Jimmy R. Stevens. She was active in Sunday School Class C and the Senior Adult Ministry. She was a member of the Autumn Leaves Club. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hosea and Edna Thomas, her husband Rev. Willie Stevens, Jr.; one brother, Curvis Thomas; niece, Linda Nell Brown; special cousin, Magnolia Stevens; and long time friend, Doris M. Tanner.

She leaves to treasure her memory and legacy her loving children. Five sons, Dr. Jimmy R. (Patricia) Stevens, Charles (Malinda) Stevens of Lake Charles, LA, Dr. Paul D. (Belinda) Stevens, Sr. of San Antonio, TX, Dr. Mitchell J. (Kerri) Stevens, Sr. of New Orleans, LA and Anthony L. (LaTisha) Stevens of Westlake, LA; two daughters, Bonita (Donald) Malbrew of Baton Rouge, LA and Serena (Chester) Goodwin of Westlake, LA; two sisters-in-law, Lena Stevens Sanders of Alexandria, LA and Alice Lou Stevens Antoine of Washington, LA; fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her New Covenant Faith Church Family.

Funeral service will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 300 North Blake Street, Lake Charles, La. Reverend E. L. Garner, Pastor, Dr. Jimmy R. Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery in Westlake, LA under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church.
