Rose Lee Zagone Liprie, 100 years old, passed on Friday, January 19, 2018, from this life to her eternal reward. She was born on March 9, 1917, in Lafayette. She lived her youth in Lafayette and Beaumont and moved to Lake Charles in 1937 as a newlywed. Rose Lee and her beloved husband, Michael Liprie, were married for 55 years.
Rose Lee will be remembered as a prayerful, kind, and gentle soul who loved her faith. She was a devout Catholic and a great witness to all those who knew her. In her late twenties, Rose Lee had Bible studies in her family’s home. She participated for over sixty years in yearly retreats at Grand Coteau and for many years in retreats at St. Charles Center. Rose Lee was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and of the church parish’s Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, and Our Lady’s Cenacle, the Marian Movement of Priests. She was a Benedictine Oblate and a Lay Carmelite. She always looked forward to her visits to the Blessed Sacrament and devoted one hour a week until her last years of life.
Rose Lee loved her family and all the celebrations with much food, fun, and laughter. She will be deeply missed. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, and gardening. She enjoyed traveling and visited numerous states, Rome, and many Marian shrines in Europe and Mexico.
Rose Lee was preceded in death by her loving husband, Michael Liprie.
