Rose Bourdier Petitjean, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on December 20, 1941, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, she was a proud 1959 graduate of Lake Charles High School, she went on to have a distinguished career, working as an executive assistant. In 1970, Rose was honored with the Louisiana Employment Security Distinguished Service Award.
Rose's life was defined by her deep love for her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Vyvyan Derouen (Robert) and Jon Michael Petitjean. As a grandmother and great-grandmother, Rose’s playful and lighthearted spirit was a constant presence. She was known for her energy and her dedication to creating joyful moments for her grandchildren, often spending entire days crafting experiences and environments for them. Her love and devotion to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her cherished siblings Alfred Bourdier, David Bourdier, and Bernadine Zibilich, as well as her grandchildren Brittany Derouen, Jessica Bachman (Justin), and Jaxon Petitjean, and her two great-grandchildren, Caedon and Christian Bachman, and her beloved cat Missy.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd J. Bourdier and Beulah Boudreaux Bourdier, and her three siblings, Milton J. Bourdier, Lynn H. Bourdier, and Vyvyan Anne Bourdier.
A graveside service will be held at Highland Memorial Gardens on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles and is open to the public.
Rose’s playful heart, devotion to her family, and her legacy of kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed.
