Roselyn Marie Hunter

Roselyn Marie Battaglia Hunter, 73, of Lake Charles, LA died at 9:24 AM on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at a local hospital. Mrs. Hunter was born October 1, 1940 in Lake Charles, LA. She was a 1959 graduate of St. Charles Academy and attended McNeese State University, where she met the love of her life, David. She loved her church and Christ, and was a life-long member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church, where she could often be heard squeaking through all the hymns. She worked for the Lake Charles American Press, Pete's Gift Shop, and So Fro Fabrics. She was a charter member of the Krewe de Noblesse. Mrs. Hunter was a belly dancer, a Pink Lady at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, and a Catholic Daughter. She loved visiting plantations and could sew anything from her daughters' homecoming dresses to a dinosaur quilt for her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for her sense of humor and never meeting a stranger. Mrs. Hunter is survived by her husband of fifty-three years, David Hawkins Hunter, Jr.; daughters, Patricia Talbot and husband Kevin of Manama Bahrain, Kristina McKenna and husband Dave of Granbury, TX, and Eloise "Weezy" Huber and husband Kurt of Lake Charles; brothers, Sam Battaglia and wife Yvonne of Lake Charles, Frank Battaglia and wife Susy of Corpus Christi, TX, and Joseph Battaglia and wife Debbie of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Zachary, Mallory, and Kaleb Talbot, Maggie and Hunter McKenna, and Henry, Leo, and Felix Huber; and her beloved poodle, Tiny. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Bertha Battaglia. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Alan Trouille will officiate. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Donations can be made to Heart of Hospice, 750 Bayou Pines East, Lake Charles, LA 70601 or Meals on Wheels.
