Rosemary C. Smalley, 82, passed away in the comfort of The Carriage House at The Verandah on September 29, 2018 with her family by her side.
Mrs. Smalley grew up in Pine Island, Louisiana as the oldest of nine children. She attended Fenton High School. She was married to the love of her life for 54 years. They lived in Lake Charles, Louisiana where she ironed clothes for a living while she raised her son. She later worked for JCPenney and eventually retired from Wal Mart after many years of service. She was a member of St. Margaret’s Catholic Church. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling and playing cards and board games with her family and friends. She took pride in taking pictures of her family events and remained the family historian all her life. She was a loyal and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
She is survived by her son, Eddie Smalley and his wife, Stephanie; two grandchildren, Trisha Bolton and her husband, Scott, and Chuck Smalley and his wife, Laci; great-grandchildren, Kallie, Logan, Aubree Rose, Grant, Brynlee Rose, Aniston and baby Clara Catherine on the way; six siblings, Verna LeBlanc (Leo), Marie Cormier (Horace), Alicia Picard, Theresa Ashford (Cecil), Brenda Touchet (Russell), Belinda Guillot (Marcel) and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin “CJ” Smalley; parents, John and Bertha Credeur; sister, Ethel Bergeron and brother, Sherman Credeur.
A mass of Christian Burial will be at Johnson Funeral Home at 10am on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Burial will follow at 2pm at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5pm-8pm on Monday, October 1, 2018 with a rosary at 6:30pm and will continue Tuesday morning at 9am until the start of service.
The family would like to thank her Heart of Hospice caregivers, especially her nurse, Katherine and the staff at the Carriage House for their loving generosity during her stay.
