Roy Allen "Toddy" Moore, 79, of Lake Charles, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 in a Lake Charles Hospital.
Toddy was born in Lake Arthur, on June 23, 1932 to Curley and Lillian Duhon Moore. He attended Lake Arthur High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and track. After his high school graduation in 1951 he attended McNeese State University also lettering in football, basketball, and track. During his career at McNeese he was named Most Valuable Player for McNeese Basketball in 1953-54 and was also named as a member of the All Gulf States Conference Basketball team in the same year.
Toddy graduated from McNeese State University in 1955 with a Batchelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education and in 1964 earned his Master's in Education in Supervision and Administration. He worked as a Planner at Conoco Phillips for twenty-five years before his retirement May 1, 1985. After his retirement Toddy worked for nine years as a sales representative for Charles Holston, Inc. in Jennings, La.
Always active at McNeese State University, Toddy was a past president of the McNeese Alumni Association. In 1987 Toddy was inducted into the McNeese State University Basketball Hall of Fame and in 2005 he was inducted into the Lake Arthur High School Sports Hall of Fame.
Toddy loved God and his family with all his heart and was an active member of St. Michael and all Angels Episcopal Church where he served as a member of the Vestry and was also a Junior Warden and Senior Warden.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wilma Collins Moore; a daughter, Cindy Lynn Moore Crowe and her husband David; a son Todd Allen Moore and his wife Clemy. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Robert Allen Stone Crowe, Shelbi Ann Crowe , Ginger Lynn Crowe, and Brandon Lee Moore; a sister and brother-in-law Carrie and Clifford Broussard. His parents, Curley and Lillian Moore and his brother an sister-in-law, Wilbert C. Moore and Barbara Jefcoat Moore preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, November 12, at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church. The Rev. Dr. Peter J. A. Cook, M.A., Ph. D. will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery under direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday at the church and will continue from 11:30 AM until service time at the church on Saturday.
The family has requested that donations be made to St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, 123 West Sale Road, Lake Charles, La. 70605 or to the McNeese Alumni Association, 600 East McNeese St., Lake Charles, La. 70607.
