Roy Alan Roberts

Roy Alan Roberts, 63, of Lake Charles died on Monday, September 8, 2014 in a Sulphur care facility. Mr. Roberts was born on September 2, 1951 in Lake Charles, LA where he resided all of his life. He was a member of Boulevard Church of Christ. Mr. Roberts took an early retirement from Basell as an operator and worked as a water control specialist at Conoco for GE Betz until his health declined. He had a need for speed and loved fast cars, boats, and motorcycles. Those left to cherish his memory are his two brothers, Randall Roberts of Westlake and Jim Roberts of San Francisco, CA; his loving and devoted companion of 17 years, Carla Johnson of Lake Charles; her daughters, Monica McGinnis and husband Tryon and Kary Meeks and husband John; and five grandchildren, Blake McGinnis, Ty, Beau, Johnathan, and Justin Meeks. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Roy B. Roberts. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Minister Jason Clark will officiate. Burial will be in Bivens Cemetery in Merryville, LA. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
