Roy Lee Strahan

Roy Lee Strahan, 55, of Lake Charles, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2014 at 2:00 AM at his residence. Mr. Strahan was born June 13, 1958 in Lake Charles, LA and attended Barbe High School. He was employed at CARC for many years. His favorite pastime was walking to his grandmother's house south of town and the Special Olympics. He participated in bowling, bocce and coach pitch softball. Roy had many trophies, medals and awards. He did league bowling with CARC twice a year. He was also a Boy Scout and enjoyed fishing, taking care of his mother and helping others. Mr. Strahan is survived by his mother, JoAnn Ellender Strahan of Lake Charles; two sisters, Neila Strahan and partner J.J. Johnson of Sugarland, TX and Terri Lyn Strahan of Lake Charles; two brothers, Robert "Danny" Strahan of Ocean Springs, MS and Roger Allen Strahan of Coran, NY; and his faithful companion, Pumpkin, his large orange cat. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Neal Strahan; grandmother, Lillie Ellender; and nieces Brenda Jo Strahan and Tracy Strahan. Funeral Services will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1:00 PM. Deacon George Carr will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM until the time of service.
