Roy N. Ball

Roy N. Ball, age 90, passed away Thursday, November 18, 2010, at a local care facility.

Born May 27, 1920, in Topsy, LA, he worked at The Newport Plant as an operator making turpentine before retiring after many years of service as a mechanic with the DOTD. Mr. Ball loved to work and enjoyed gardening. Preceding him in death was his wife of 53 years, Effie Cormier Ball, and seven siblings, Ellen Cooper, Rene Ball, Inez Baulkman, and Frank, Burley, Albert, and Woodrow Ball.

Survivors include his two children, Renee Sheffield and husband, Allen, and Jerry Roy Ball and wife, Connie all of Lake Charles; five grandchildren, Jeremy and Chad Ball, Jason Barber, and Lindsey and Bryant Sheffield; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Ball, and Austin and Taylor Barber, and one great-grandson due to come in December.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Lake Charles. Msgr. James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will follow in Frey Cemetery in Mowata under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning on Friday, November 19, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Saturday, November 20, from 8 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be prayed Friday evening at 6 p.m.
