Royland L. Miller, 92, of Lake Charles, passed into eternal life, Thursday, October 20, 2011

Mr. Miller was born, raised and lived his young adulthood in Woodlawn. He was very proud of his heritage as his mother's family, the Witherwax's, came to the area in the 1860,s by wagon train settling in and developing homestead in Woodlawn. He has lived the past fifty five years in Lake Charles. He retired a District Manager of the State Department of Revenue after thirty six years of service to the State of Louisiana.

Mr. Miller was a member of the Optimist Club and a founding member of the Optimist Leukemia Foundation. He was also an active member of Dynamic Dimensions, keeping him and his wife healthy and adding to their social network. He enjoyed traveling and camping.

Mr. Miller will be most remembered for "his stories", as he loved to talk.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 72 years, Jeanne Marie Guilbeau; one son, Andre Miller and wife Charlene of Lafayette; three daughter's, Jeanette Lowry and husband Earl, Juanita Trahan and husband James and Camille Guidry and husband Dale, all of Moss Bluff; eleven grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Royland Miller, Jr. and one grandson, Andre Miller, Jr.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, October 22, 2011 in St. Theodore Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Interment will follow in Pinehill Cemetery. Visitation Saturday will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the church.
