Ruby Nell Humphries

April 30, 1939 — December 16, 2024

Ruby Nell Humphries entered eternal life in heaven December 16, 2024 in Lake Charles, LA. Born in Fort Worth, Texas on April 30, 1939 to Herman Forest Humphries and Artrue Vena Crow Humphries, she was the fifth of six children. The family moved to Houston, Texas during the Depression and attended Broadway Baptist Church, where Ruby at 12 years old, accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren each have stories to share of how her love and support touched their lives. She attended First Pentecostal Church of Lake Charles where she joined several Bible Groups. She happily donated her one-of-a-kind Christmas tree skirts to church fundraisers. Ruby was known for her beautiful sewing and for her enjoyment of cooking. She loved baking biscuits and bread for family and neighbors. Ruby was a Camp Fire Girl Leader and served on the Central School PTA Committee. Ruby's natural gifts were continuously creating DIY home improvements with paintbrush in hand, and she restored several homes in the Historical District. She enjoyed working for Calcasieu Safety Council, Lake Charles Memorial Hospital and part time retail.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, her infant brother James Humphries, her sister Betty Marlene Humphries, and her brothers Billy Edward Humphries and Gerald Lee Humphries.
