Ruby Jeanette Thompson, 89, of Lake Charles, LA died on Monday, April 14, 2014 in a local care facility. Ruby was born on March 9, 1925 in Topsy, LA to Daniel and Susan Parker. Mrs. Ruby loved quilting and sewing. She also loved being with family, cooking, traveling, shopping, fashion, and possessed the ability to tell funny stories and mimic accents. She is survived by Jimmy Roberts and wife Becky of Moss Bluff, Ricky Roberts and wife Nelda of Missouri City, TX, Jerry Roberts and wife Wendy of Lake Charles, Melvin Roberts and wife Kelli of Huntsville, TX, Charlotte Roberts of Ball, LA, Donald Roberts and wife Janet of Missouri City; two step daughters, Renee Thompson and Deborah Thompson; one step son, Tommy Thompson; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Daniel B. and Susan Parker; one son, Danny E. Roberts; two husbands Melvin E. Roberts and Nelson B. Thompson; one stepson, Vincent Thompson; and 11 siblings. Special thanks to Resthaven Nursing Center and entire staff, Brighton Bridge Hospice, and family friend Louise Stelly. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. Burial will be at New Ritchie Cemetery. Rev. Don Duplechin will officiate services.
