Ruby Spence

Ruby Francis Sepulvado Spence, 88, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on Monday, February 10, 2025 in Lake Charles, LA. She was born on February 3, 1937 in Zwolle, LA to Dan Sepulvado and Ellen Leonie Sepulvado.

Ruby was a very strong and kindhearted woman. She was a devout Catholic. Ruby loved hosting the annual Schlumberger Fishing Tournament with her husband, Willie, at their camp in Toledo Bend. Watching football was one of her favorite pastimes. She was a huge fan of the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her children, Debbie Stroderd (Rusty), Donnie Spence (Jamie), Robert Spence, Richard Spence (Kelly), and Patricia Fontenot (John); her fourteen grandchildren; her twenty-four great grandchildren; her one great, great grandchild and her twin sister Cuby Lyons.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Spence, Jr., her parents, her grandson Heath Royer, her nine siblings and five half siblings.

Ruby's funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Thursday, February 13, 2025 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Wednesday evening, February 12 at the funeral home from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a rosary being recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will resume at 9:00 AM on Thursday morning and continue until the start of the service at 11:00 AM.
