Rudolph O. Young, Jr.

July 12, 1931 — July 3, 2018

Rudolph “Rudy” Odo Young Jr., 86, passed away on July 2, 2018 at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home.

 

Rudy was a native of Youngsville, LA and attended St. Joseph Seminary in St. Benedict, LA. He is a graduate of St. Stanislaus High School and later received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He served his country in the United States Navy. In the early 1970s, Rudy became a resident of Lake Charles. He was an active member of St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church. He was a founding member of the Lake Charles Alcoholics Anonymous Group and walked many others successfully through their struggles with addiction. Professionally, he was a U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee, where he freely advised others in resolving their financial problems in lieu of bankruptcy. In his free time, Rudy was an avid golfer. On Wednesdays he enjoyed lunch at the Pioneer Club and Saturday mornings breakfast with his friend Dr. Tommy White.

 

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Ann Young of Baton Rouge; daughter, Brenda Fuqua Owens (Danny) of Mandeville; two step children, Debbie Stutes (Rusty), and Sherrie Wilkins (Wayne); four grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Owens Sr., Courtney Marie Owens, Amy Lynn Fuqua, and Sophie Marguerite Fuqua; five step grandchildren, Russell Stutes III, M. Louis Stutes, Alexandra Stutes, Chase Wilkins, and Shelby Wilkins; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Owens Jr., and Jaxon James Owens; daughter-in-law, Heather Fuqua; and former spouse, Kay Noble

 

He is preceded in death by his father, Rudolph O. Young Sr.; mother, Louise DeJean Stutes; and son, Patrick Barry Fuqua; and former spouse, Patricia Barry Hess.

 

A funeral service will be held at St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church at 1PM on Saturday, July 7, 2018. Father Peter Cook will officiate. Cremation, that will follow the service, has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin Saturday morning at the church at 11AM.
