Rudy Dale Saucier died peacefully at home on August 24, 2014, after bravely fighting cancer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. His funeral service will be held at Johnson's Funeral Home on Saturday, August 30th, at 11:00 AM. The visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Johnson's Funeral Home. Military honors graveside service will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. Rudy was born on October 14, 1934, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to William and Lula McDaniel Saucier and raised in Lake Charles. He graduated from LaGrange High School. God blessed him with a loving and caring wife, Faye Harmon Saucier, who he married on June 6, 1964. He is survived by Faye and three loving children; Michael Saucier and wife Christine, Mitchell Saucier and wife Catherine, and Susan Lohuaru and husband August. Rudy gave them a wonderful life and was an inspirational role model. He was devoted to his family and was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather of four. Rudy was hard-working, kind, dedicated and a perfectionist in all that he did. He was always lending a helping hand to anyone. A hobby of Rudy's was his talent for carpentry. He could build and fix anything. Rudy believed if you really wanted to do something you could do it and he lived by this motto. Rudy was an avid fisherman, gardener, and loved to cook. As a young man, he joined the United States Navy and attended McNeese University. He was a skilled draftsman working for John Gabriel in Lake Charles and then as a building contractor during his thirty year career. Wonderful memories will be remembered by his wife, children, brother, Grady Saucier and wife Vicki of Baton Rouge, sister Yvonne Saucier of Lake Charles, and nieces and nephews.
