Russell A. Vidrine, 93, of Lake Charles, LA, died on Sunday, June 26, 2016 in his residence.
Mr. Vidrine was born January 4, 1923 in Plaisance, LA, was a 1941 graduate of Grand Prairie High School and attended USL in Lafayette. He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After his discharge from the military, he lived in Ville Platte for a number of years before moving to Lake Charles in 1954. Mr. Vidrine worked at Bolton Ford, where he retired after over thirty-five years of service. He was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. Mr. Vidrine enjoyed gardening, working in the yard, and watching LSU and Saints football. He also enjoyed watching golf and the History Channel, but puttering around the yard was his favorite pastime, along with spending time with his family.
Mr. Vidrine is survived by his daughters, Chris Vidrine, Susan Lowrey and husband Russell and Marlene Vidrine-Barrilleaux and husband Clay, all of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Michael Lowrey and Daniel Lowrey; special niece, Jennie Jernigan of Pearland, TX; and his beloved cat, Sugar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace P. Vidrine, son, Marty Vidrine; sister, Bertha Bihm; parents, Ferdinand and Virginia Vidrine; and grandparents, Aristide and Emma (Joubert) Sebastien and Marius and Emily (Doucet) Vidrine.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
