Russell Douglas Warner, Jr.

Russell Douglas Warner, Jr., 72, of Lake Charles died at 10:10 PM on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in a local hospital.


Mr. Warner was born on August 7, 1940 in Summit, NJ. In his earlier years, he coached little league baseball. Mr. Warner had a love for flying and was a pilot. He managed the Deridder Airport in the 1960's. Following the footsteps of his parents, he continued to devote time to animal rescue in the area.


He is survived by three sons, Paul Warner and wife Tara of Sulphur, Doug Warner of Bossier City, and Matt Warner and wife Jenee of Moss Bluff; a daughter, Sonya Hidalgo and husband Troy of Sulphur; a step daughter, Ashlee Smith of Singer; a sister, Marilyn Sanders of Nederland, TX; nine grandchildren; the mother of his children, Judy Warner Smith and husband Danny of Deridder; his second wife, Tanga Nelson Warner of Singer; and his beloved pet cat, Russell Jr.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Russell Warner, Sr.


Cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery.
