Ruth A. Abshire, 71, of Lake Charles died Friday, April 18, 2014 in a local hospital. Ruth was born on March 25, 1943 in Lake Charles, LA to Earl and Anita LeBleu. She was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. Ruth enjoyed making rosaries, gardening, reading and being in the company of friends and family. She also enjoyed spending time at her Toledo Bend Camp . She liked cooking and preparing Sunday dinners for her family. She was the owner of Kit and Kaboodle craft store and Ruth's beauty salon. She was a senior cashier at Isle of Capri Casino for many years. Survivors include one son, Allen Abshire and wife Gayla of Lake Charles, LA; one daughter, Shari Abshire and partner Sallye Salter of Moss Bluff, LA; grandchildren, Jason Abshire and wife Meagan of Spring, TX, Jerod Abshire and wife Laryn of Lake Charles, LA, Brandon Abshire and wife Sarah of Lake Charles, LA, Lori Williams and husband Blaine of Moss Bluff, LA, Lane Saucier of New York, Rev. Megan Saucier and husband Rev. Jason Stanley of Virginia; four great grandchildren, Keslyn, Meredith, John, and Abby; two brothers, Ernest LeBleu and wife Lou of LeBleu Settlement, LA and George "Buddy" LeBleu and wife Shirley of Arkansas, and one sister at heart, Lois Cormier. She is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband of 52 years, Raymond J. "RJ" Abshire. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM Monday, April 21, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will resume Tuesday at 8:00 AM until time of service. Burial will be at Sallier Cemetery. Fr. Brian King and Pastor Richard Watson will officiate. A special thanks to the entire nursing staff at St. Patricks Hospital, ATC unit, and Dr. Kane, Dr. Khan, and Dr. Kohler and their staff.
