Ruth Adler Sandlin, 92, passed away in Baton Rouge, LA, on July 2, 2017. She was born on August 13, 1924, in Kuenzelsau, Germany to Eugene and Fanny Brant Adler.
After graduating from Louisiana State University in 1945, Ruth lived in Lake Charles, LA, where she taught in the Calcasieu Parish School system for 26 years. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority. She was also a member of First Christian Church and of the Pink Lady Auxiliary at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Bob Harris, and Cecil Sandlin, her husband of 40 years. She is also preceded by her brothers, Alfred and Edward Adler, and her grand-daughter Christine Tranchina.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons Cecil H. (Debra) Sandlin II, James (Leslie) Sandlin and Carl (Ellie) Sandlin. Ruth’s grandchildren are, Jackie (Andy) Johnson, Megan (David) Bostick, Cas (Ashley) Sandlin, Kirby (Scot) Schroeder, Shelby Sandlin, Mary Allyn (Brandon) Boudreaux and Max Sandlin. She also leaves 10 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests at Johnson Funeral Home on Saturday, July 8, 2017, from 10am-12pm. Funeral services will follow at 12pm officiated by Rev. Bobbie Taylor of First Christian Church. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the First Christian Church, 2525 2nd Avenue, Lake Charles, LA. 70601.
