Ruth Allison, 97, of Lake Charles, LA died at 5:20 PM on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in a local care facility. Mrs. Allison was born on June 13, 1916 in Stephens, AR where she graduated high school. In 1955 she moved to Lake Charles, LA where she resided the rest of her life. Mrs. Allison was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles where she taught the ten year old Sunday School class for many years. She enjoyed playing Bridge but most of all she adored spending time with her family. Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, K Allison Benton of Sulphur; two grandchildren, Mark Benton and wife Kellie and Clark Benton all of Sulphur; five great grandchildren, Chris, Katie, Allison, Kamryn, and Alexandria "Alex" Benton; and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Allison; her parents, Claudia and Willie Green; and siblings, Elma Green, Willie Green Spooner, Julia McHone, Alli Lee Green, an infant sister, Marvin Alexander Green, and Milton T. Green. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 21, 2013 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Tom Bruce will officiate. Visitation will begin on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the start of the service and will continue following the service. Burial will be held in Stephen's Cemetery in Stephens, AR on Saturday. The family wishes to express sincere gratitude to the staff at the Guardian House and also to Christus St. Patrick's Hospice for their continued compassionate and tender care while caring for Mrs. Allison.
