Ruth B. Dorroh, 91, died at 8:42 PM on August 26, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Hodge, LA, to John Henry and Bessie Gertrude Baker Browne, Mrs. Dorroh received her Bachelor of Science in English from Louisiana Tech. She taught school for eighteen years, retiring from her last assignment at Oak Park Junior High School in 1961. She assisted her husband, Joe Dorroh, for many years in their income tax preparation business. Mrs. Dorroh was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church. For years when the church was located on Ryan Street, she loved rocking babies in the nursery and preparing picnic lunches for her husband's annual 5th grade boys Sunday School class fishing trip.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons, Kevin Beatty and wife Cindy of Lake Charles, Ned Beatty of Minden, LA; two daughters, Charlotte and Sue Dorroh of Lake Charles; a daughter-in-law, Sue Beatty of Minden, LA; one grandson, Jonathan Beatty of Lake Charles; two granddaughters, Deanne Grider of Linden, TX and Shannon Thornton of Shreveport, LA; three great-grandchildren, Cole Thornton of Sibley, LA, Drew and Caitlin Grider of Linden, TX; one sister, Jean Rockhold of Jonesboro, LA; two Nieces, Janet Brown of Ruston, LA and Sylvia Hudson of Bethany, LA; two nephews, Bill Brown (Joan) of Monroe, LA and Tony Rockhold (Sherry) or Mississippi; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Joe Dorroh; a brother, John H. Brown of Monroe, La; and her brother-in-law, Edgar Dorroh of Gulfport, MS.
The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given Mrs. Dorroh to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, and to the staff and caregivers of A First Name Basis, who loved and cared for her as their own.
Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Steve James will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Baptist Church Building Fund. For everyone who prayed, visited, sent cards, and always inquired of her, the family expresses loving gratitude.
