Ruth Bass, 86, of Houston, TX, died on Thursday, April 23, 2015 in a Houston hospital. Mrs. Bass was born September 29, 1928 in Pineville, LA, lived in Lake Charles for sixty years and moved to Houston eight years ago. She was a graduate of Bolton High School and attended Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Mrs. Bass worked as an administrative assistant at Beltone Hearing and Industrial Construction Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lake Charles and loved to attend bible study. She was a Pink Lady at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, where she enjoyed working in the gift shop. Mrs. Bass enjoyed crocheting, cooking, watching sports events and playing Bingo and cards. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family and grandchildren and her beloved dogs. She will always be remembered as a fun loving, family oriented woman who devoted herself to taking care of others. Mrs. Bass is survived by her son, Jack W. Bass, II and wife Joyce of Houston, TX; daughter, Peggy Bass Lippmin and husband John of Edmond, OK; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Redd; grandchildren, Jack Bass, III and wife Kati, Rochelle Bass Batchelor and husband Brandon, Jerel Bass, Justin Waltrip and wife Courtney, Ryan Waltrip and wife Kari, Hailee Lippmin Mick and husband Taylor, and Chad Lippmin and wife Shamen; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Bass; two brothers; and two sisters. Her memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Francis LaRocque will officiate. A gathering of family members and friends will be on Monday from 9:00 AM until the start of service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association, 630 West Prien Lake Road, Suite 107, Lake Charles, LA 70601.
