Ruth Foreman Racca

Ruth Foreman Racca, 92, passed away on March 17, 2018 at a local care facility.

Mrs. Racca was born and raised in Laccasine, LA and raised her family in the Lake Charles area. She was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church. She was a very hospitable lady that always made sure her family and friends had a fresh pot of coffee and plenty of her tasty, homemade food. She enjoyed sewing, dancing, and watching baseball and football. She was the bookkeeper for the family business, Racca Service Shop. Mrs. Racca most of all enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was very active in their lives. She is fondly remembered as the caring and concerned matriarch of the family.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra “Gayle” Davis (Bo), and Janet Lea Polito (James); one son, Hulin “David” Racca (Mariel); one brother, Alfred “Bee” Richard (Eva Rae); two sisters, Sherral Vincent, and Jean Ryder; ten grandchildren, Craig Davis (Jennifer), Carey Davis (Tracy), Cammie Davis-Wicks (Ben), Brent Howard (Sherry), Brad Stebbins (Carla), Trena Stebbins, Jennifer Stebbins Elliott (Triston), Derek Racca (Mary), Brooke Racca, and Hollie Racca; eighteen great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, John H. Racca; mother, Elise Richard; step-father, Dudley Richard; father, Dave Foreman; two brothers, Nelson Richard, and Sidney Foreman; daughter, Carolyn Howard; and great grandson, Tyler Truett.

A funeral service will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home. The Very Reverend Marcus Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be 4PM to 9PM on Tuesday, March 20 at Johnson Funeral Home. Tuesday evening at 6PM there will be a rosary recited. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Wednesday morning at 9AM until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
