Ruth Guidry

October 22, 1940 — September 25, 2018

Ruth Ann Guidry, 77, of Sulphur passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.  Ruth was a member of Court Our Lady of LaSalette #1255 in Sulphur.  She served as Catholic Daughters of America State Regent from 1990 to 1994 and was National CDA director from 2012 to 2014.  She was a member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church and served as eucharistic minister, lector and was a member of the Lady’s Altar Society.  Ruth started her passion for baking cakes for her friends and loved ones at the young age of 16 and continued this love up to recent months prior to her passing.  One of Ruth’s greatest hobbies was playing cards and dice and was very involved with friends at SPAR.  She was also an avid Precious Moments collector.  Ruth was currently employed at Ranco Services and was happy to provide home cooked meals regularly for employees.  Ruth along with her late husband, Alvin were the proud owners of Paragon Drug Store in Sulphur for over 40 years.

Ruth is survived by her children, Kevin Paul Guidry of Sulphur, Cynthia Guidry Derouen and husband Jody of Orange, TX, Chris Guidry of Sulphur, Tina Marie Guidry Hoffpauir of Sulphur and Deron Guidry of Sulphur; her grandchildren, Nathaniel Hoffpauir, Clinton Derouen, Lauren Emily Albert, Nicholas Cranford, Brittany Derouen Jester, Jacob Guidry and Tiffany Street; 7 great grandchildren; and one loving sister in law, Venola Bernard.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 36 years, Alvin Guidry; her parents, Maurice and Eve Bernard; two brothers, Maurice Bernard, Jr. and Earl Bernard; and one grandson, Aaron Paul Guidry. 

Services for Ruth will be held on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 11 AM at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church with Father Edward Richard, M.S. officiating.  Burial will follow at Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home from 3-9 PM with a rosary at 6:30 PM and visitation will resume on Friday from 8 AM until time to leave for the church.
