Ruth Guidry Ellender, 92, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 in a local hospital. Mrs. Ellender was a native of and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. She was born on March 27, 1922, the youngest of fourteen children, to Silas Peter Guidry and Sarah Alice Garrett Guidry. She was an excellent cook with gifted talent in creating "look alike" Southern Living cakes that looked like they came right off the magazine cover and tasted even better! Mrs. Ellender was an admirable Christian woman who took great pride in dressing and looking her best. She will be most remembered as an elegant Christian lady. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Charlotte Broussard Kaough and husband Jim of Lake Charles; one son, Philip Scott of Portland, OR; seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and dear friends, Ethel Broussard and Bonnie Roper, both of Lake Charles. She also leaves many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lee Ellender; two sons, Paul Neal Scott and Gary William Scott; grandson, John Philip Scott; parents and brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 02, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Gary Evers will officiate. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation Tuesday will be from 10:00 AM until the start of the service in the funeral home.
